Announcement on the Incident of Fake EOS

The Whole Story of Fake EOS

1.EOS account oo1122334455 issued 1000000000 fake EOS Token at 14:01:45  in Sept 14th, 2018 and transferred all to account dapphub12345.

2.Then account dapphub12345 transferred it to iambillgates.(The attacker's account)

The account iambillgates tried to buy IPOS and ADD several times at 14:21:37 with a fake EOS, and successfully bought IPOS and ADD.

3.After testing the feasibility of the attack, the account began to place large order from 14:31:34 to 14:45:4. A total of 11,800 fake EOS orders were issued to purchase BLACK, IQ and ADD, and all transactions were concluded.

4.After the successful purchase of BLACK, IQ and ADD, iambillgates transferred all Illegally obtained Token to account xx1234512345 and x12345x12345.

Then account xx1234512345 placed market sell order to sell Illegally obtained Token on Newdex, and got 4028 real EOS.

5.Newdex stopped the service at 15:52 after finding an exception and immediately activated the emergency response repair system. The repair was completed at 16:33, and normal operation was resumed.

6.At the end, the attacker account xx1234512345 deposited 4028 real EOS to Bitfinex exchange in three times. The remaining 1877162.0000 IQ, 701948.0000 ADD are still retained in account xx1234512345.

Fake EOS Event Processing Result

So far, the fake EOS incident has caused 11,803 EOS losses to Newdex users. In order to provide better service, the Newdex team took responsibility for the entire loss and has fixed the problem in the first place and resumed normal transaction. All Newdex users please don’t worry and use it at ease.

Newdex expressed our strong condemnation and said the attacker seriously undermined the ecological stability of EOS. Newdex will further trace and prosecute hackers, and provide relevant evidence for EOS arbitration. We deeply welcome further information about the attack.
